Nyah's Medical Check

We went to the adoption medical office today.

Nyah did great while all the other children screamed, kicked and carried on.

She weighed in at 23 pounds. Emma was 19 pounds when we got her at 1 year old.

Nyah was 32 inches where Emma is now at 36 inches.

She's healthy!

The doctor couldn't give us a good reason for Nyah's arm having an extra bend.

We will have to wait for Shiners Hospital, in America, for x-rays.

Our Hotel in Guangzhou

We're staying in a hotel called the White Swan. We stayed here last year when we were in Guangzhou for Emma. This year, we were given a free upgrade to our room. It oversees the Pearl River.
The water fall is in the middle of the hotel. Very beautiful! If you want to see more pictures you can go to Emma's blog where we have a lot of pictures of the hotel. http://tohelpemmafly.blogspot.com/

More Pictures from Guangzhou

While walking around Guangzhou
we were stopped by two teachers with their students.
They're assignment was to stop foreigners,
introduce themselves, and say "Nice to meet you."
They asked us to write our names
and where we are from on their paper.
They had to speak "Only" English.
Oh, it was so cute!

Greetings From Guangzhou!

We are in Guangzhou and so happy to be here! We felt like we were coming back to a resort. This place is actually very pretty. We're staying on an island located in the middle of the city. It is right next to the Pearl River.

We got unpacked, took laundry to a local store, ordered a picture of Nyah to be carved into a stone for Jordan, WENT TO STARBUCKS, and shopped. We walked around the island. Boy, has it has changed since we were last here. They are undergoing a financial struggle on the island and many of the buildings are shut down. There is less shopping than before therefore, we went down different streets. There is so much that we missed the first time.

The adoption families are converging on the island. It was humorous how everyone, including us just started talking. Everyone is eager to see other Americans and hear fluent English.

We ate at Lucy's, a local restaurant that has Western food. It was great!! Jordan, we stopped by that Jordon store that we didn't get to last time. This picture is for you.

Well...we shopped until we dropped and got Nyah to bed by 8:00.

Tomorrow we'll shop, get a massage and rest on the island until 2:00pm. Then, we meet in the lobby and head down to Nyah's medical check. Tomorrow evening we'll go on the Pearl River dinner Cruise. It is part of the package deal. Very pretty and fun!

The weather is perfect. Much cooler than when we were here in July 07.
We will send more pictures and info later.

Love you all,
Melody and Eric

Nyah's 1st Plane Ride

Hello Everyone,

We left Zhenzhou this morning at 9:00 a.m.
Just before we left we met two different missionaries from the states:

The first one, has been in China for 8 years. He has worked at several orphanages and is now starting a new one in the province. He's from Salem, Oregon.

The second one has been there for a while. He's the director of an orphanage and works with special needs children.

We met them at the hotel in Zhenzhou. They'd both come for their monthly church service, held in the hotel. Anyway, we were invited to attend and would have done just about anything to go, but we were literally leaving for the airport. One of there websites was: http://bigstonechina.org/ It was so great to meet them.

You're probably wondering how Nyah did on her 1st plane ride??? Well, here are some pictures to show you...She actually did really well. She fell asleep right after we took off and woke up in time to eat some chicken, rice and bread.
(The flight took 2 hours.)
