We have our hands full!

The girls are doing well. They have become best friends and are very protective of each other. They are also very 2. They want what each other has, they fight, blame each other and so on. They are so exhausting and fun at the same time.
I have my hands full most of the time with them. Eric and the older kids are priceless. Not sure what I would do without them. They are great help. We keep plugging away. We are now in the process of trying to figure out how to give the girls life skills. This means, how do we teach them to survive with one hand. How do they tie their shoe, get dressed, write, hold things, cut paper...
It is a little daunting and overwhelming. If you have any ideas on how to go about this, let us know.

Oh Melody! They are sooo cute! Can I have them? :-)

Anna's best friend (who practically lives at our house/long story, being raised by her grandparents) has CP. She has no use of her left hand. While she is slower at everything, she eventually figures it out. She braces paper with her elbow and cuts/writes with the other hand. She dresses herself, although she can't button her pants so she usually wears stretchy clothes. She hangs the hood of her coat on her head first, then can get both arms in. Some coats she can even zip, but not all. She buckles her own seatbelt, learning to pull lots of extra so she can do it with one hand before it all retracts. As for the shoes....velcro. By the time they need to wear "tie" shoes, they will figure it out. They just will. Be encouraged. It may take a little longer, but they will get it. I suppose at some time you have to quit doing so much for them so they can figure things out on their own, but I don't know when that is for each thing.

Love you all!
